When Rodents Attack

Lucy pretty much never barks and Pumpkin does on occasion when she hears another dog or there's a strange person around. But the other day Pumpkin was going absolutely NUTS barking like crazy, and Dustin and I went out to my parents backyard to find:

 OPOSSUM!!

This is just a baby one, but they're still creepy looking buggers, like giant rats. Here's Pumpkin in pursuit, we tried to get an action shot of her barking, but this is the best we could do:

She was so proud of herself, circling it and pouncing on it. I think if we had left them alone she would have killed it, but Dustin rescued it and put it on the other side of the fence. It's come back multiple times, my parents think its after the dog food, I think its just a stupid little creature to challenge Pumpkin again.

This week has gone by fast, I've had lots of lunches/dinners out with friends, which has been really nice. Yesterday I actually had lunch with a senior partner at Fulbright & Jaworski who is a friend of my parents. She was so wonderfully down to earth and full of fantastic advice, it was really a blessing to spend time with her. The consensus among lawyers I've talked with seems to be that practicing law is so much better than law school, hooray! Anyways, we ate at a fabulous place in Drippin' called "Thyme and Dough Bakery & Deli." It was a nursery, they have plants everywhere and seem to grow a lot of their ingredients right there. Everything was homemade and fresh and fabulous, I think it would be a perfect place for Hannah's "bridesmaid" luncheon :)

Dustin has been gone since Thursday, he's up in the DFW area volunteering with Special Olympics. He is so gifted with the kids that are there, I think he would have been a great special ed teacher if he had chosen to stay in teaching-- he's just so patient and sweet and I love that about him. I am excited, however, for it to be over and for him to head back to be with me :)

We've also received wonderful news that we are going to be an Aunt and Uncle! Dustin's brother and his wife, Justin and Jennifer, have finally been approved to adopt a child through the CPS system. So far we know that their son is named Joshua, is 15, and is very outgoing and friendly. We can't wait to meet him and are so happy for Justin and Jennifer!

We hope that everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
