Texas Revue!!

Yesterday afternoon Dustin, his friend Jamie and I drove down to UT campus to watch the Texas Revue, which is an absolutely fantastic talent show put on by UT students each spring.

When we first got to Austin we headed to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants: Sao Paulo's. They have fabulous brazilian food, I love their fried yucca and Dustin loves their caprinias.

Then we headed to the show. It kept trying to rain but thank goodness held off; the show is entirely outdoors on the main mall by the UT tower. Some of the acts included Indian dance teams, a Hindi a cappella group, a salsa dancing group "Mexcla," a hilarious skit by the business school students, a Poi performer (he used glow sticks instead of fire though), a hip hop performance, etc. One of our favorite groups was The Pajamas, who sang a couple of really funny songs about college life (sleeping too much and making bad decisions) and dating (no, trying to date two girls at once isn't a great idea). There was lots of talent and lots of humor. You can find more detailed descriptions of the performances here.

Afterwards we were naughty and hit up Amy's Ice Cream. Jamie had never been there, so really we were just making the sacrifice for her ;)  I just feel so alive and excited being around the bustling city of Austin and the UT campus. Waco and Baylor just seem so homogenous and desolate in comparison.

The only downside was the reality check we got from being around the students there. You would think being around the Baylor undergrads we would know what undergrads looked like, but for some reason everyone at UT looked so young compared to what I remember when I was there. Apparently we are just getting old. Boo.
