Christmas Day

We woke up early Christmas morning at my parents to open presents. I still had trouble sleeping that night, just like I did when I was a little kid filled with excitement.

Some of Dustin's gifts included a sport's coat from Men's Wearhouse, a new camelbak back pack (he had one he loved until Pumpkin got ahold of it and ripped it to pieces) and several new shirts/sweatshirts he had picked out. The neatest gift I thought he got was this handpainted ornament my parents picked out in Breckenridge last year, it has a snowboarder on it and Dustin loves to snowboard:

My two main gifts were my UT class ring (I didn't want one when I gradauted, but since have become very proud about attending such an awesome school), and a beautiful Burberry scarf. One of my favorite presents, which was a surprise from my mom, is this Christmas Memories Book. For each year it has a place to put the card you sent and/or a family picture, plus prompts to write about Christmas Eve/Christmas, visits from family and friends, favorite gifts and special things to remember from that year. It will last for 20 years. My mom has one too that she started when we were all very young and it's neat to look back over all the years. This was a special gift for our first married Christmas that I'm looking forward to filling with memories over the years:

Below is a picture of Seth snoozing after our early morning present session:

All our stockings over the fireplace. My parents are the cowboy boots and the kids are the monogrammed ones. This year my mom surprised Dustin with a stocking that matches ours since he is now officially part of our family. I really appreciate how inclusive my parents are of Dustin in everything:

A close up of our stockings. My mom tried to get Dustin a "manly" one, so his has reindeer on it:

After we opened our presents we took the dogs theirs. Growing up we wrapped dog treats/toys in tissue paper and let our dogs, Sam and Sally, unwrap them by ripping off the paper. This year we did this for Lucy and Pumpkin. Lucy figured it out pretty quick and had hers unwrapped within seconds. Pumpkin, our sweet but not so bright puppy, missed the point and seemed content to play with the tissue paper.

It took Lucy about one hour to kill the squeakers in four rubber toys. She loves destroying those things:

Pumpkin enjoyed her toys too, but she still seems to prefer a good belly rub over just about anything:

Instead of having a more traditional Christmas meal just for the sake of being traditional, we decided to have a fun one: bring on the fajitas and margaritas!! We munched on queso and chips during the day while Hannah whipped up some delicious margaritas that she couldn't make fast enough and then had some delicious fajitas with all the toppings!

Below are mom and Hannah enjoying our Tex-Mex Christmas:

Dustin spent time talking with Mamie, he has a gift for talking with Mamie and his own grandfather, Papa, which is one of the things I love about him:

We left super early the day after Christmas to head up to my parent's condo in Breckenridge for some skiing/snowboarding so we spent a good part of Christmas day packing for the trip. We were taking some new stuff up for the condo so we had quite a bit to pack. My dad, the packing wizard, fit a week's worth of luggage for 7 people, plus 2 snowboards, plus 2 new bedsets, PLUS a big screen TV (plus room for 7 people to ride in it) in the suburban. Crazy.

The day after Christmas my parents, hannah, seth and mamie left at 5 am to head up to Breckenridge. Dustin and I left at 3am so that we could spend some time at his parents on the way. We dropped off his car and the dogs in Slaton and rode with my family for the majority of the trip. We're so glad to have mamie with us in Colorado this year!
